Product & Fit

What’s the difference between Blueye sunglasses and Blueye goggles? Our sunglasses (Jager, Velocity, Revolver, Reload) are built for everyday tactical wear, patrol, range work and outdoor use where you need ballistic protection without bulk. Our goggles (Granite, SOS Fluid, SOS Super Cell) are designed for higher-threat environments and integrate with helmets and soldier systems, with options built specifically for Land, Air and Water Ops.

What is the Asian Fit range, and how is it different? Our Asian Fit styles (including the Jager Low Profile Asian Fit) use a recontoured frame and bridge to suit a wider range of face shapes, particularly flatter nose bridges and higher cheekbones. Same ballistic protection and lens technology, just a fit engineered for comfort and seal across more face shapes.

Can I get prescription lenses fitted to my Blueye eyewear? Yes. Our sunglasses (Jager, Jager Low Profile Asian Fit and Velocity, including the Zeiss Series) take a universal RX insert. Our goggles (SOS Fluid, SOS Super Cell, Granite Mission and Integrator) use the MG-10 prescription insert. Both sit behind the ballistic lens, so you keep full impact protection and optical correctness. Polycarbonate prescription lenses only.

Which lens colour should I choose?

  • Smoke or dark lenses suit bright sunlight and high-glare conditions.
  • Clear lenses are built for low-light or night operations.
  • HD lenses sharpen contrast and definition in mixed or changeable light.
  • Photochromic lenses (SOS Super Cell) shift from dark to clear in seconds, useful when you’re moving quickly between light and dark environments.

Are lenses interchangeable across models? Lenses are model-specific, designed to match the frame’s optical geometry and ballistic rating. They’re not cross-compatible between different product lines, but each model offers a range of interchangeable lens colours within its own lens kit.

How do I know which goggle suits my role? Think in terms of theatre or environment. SOS Fluid is built for maritime and RHIB operations, with hydrophobic, anti-fog lenses. Granite Integrator and Granite Mission goggles suit land ops and helmet-mounted setups. SOS Super Cell suits special operations tasks where rapid light-to-dark transitions matter, like breaching or urban work.

Ballistic Compliance & Certification

What does “ballistic compliant” actually mean? It means the eyewear has been tested and certified to stop high-velocity fragments and blunt impacts at specified standards, not just scratch-resistant or impact-resistant in a general sense. It’s the difference between everyday sunglasses and eyewear rated for combat and high-risk operational use.

Which standards do Blueye products meet? Depending on the product, our range meets or exceeds:

  • MIL-PRF-31013 (US military ballistic impact requirements for spectacles)
  • STANAG 2920
  • ANSI Z87.1-2010 (ballistic impact and optical requirements)
  • EN166 and EN172
  • AS/NZS 1337.1

Is Blueye certified to supply military and law enforcement internationally? Yes. Our eyewear is certified to both US and European military ballistic impact requirements, alongside local and international safety standards, which is why we supply across 11 countries including Australia, the US, UK, France and beyond.

Is your manufacturing independently certified? Yes, our manufacturing systems are certified by SAI Global.

Get in touch directly to discuss unit supply.

Are you registered for NATO or government procurement (NCAGE)? Yes, Blueye holds NCAGE codes for both our Australian and US entities. [CONFIRM WITH CLIENT: confirm whether to publish the actual NCAGE codes on this page, or keep it to “available on request” for procurement officers]

Can you customise eyewear for a specific unit, branch or branding? [CONFIRM WITH CLIENT: whether custom branding, colourways or unit-specific runs are offered, and any minimum order for this]

Care & Maintenance

How do I clean and store my Blueye eyewear? Rinse with clean water to remove grit or salt before wiping, since dry-wiping can scratch the lens coating. Use a microfibre cloth and avoid household glass cleaners, which can degrade anti-fog and UV coatings. Store in a hard case when not in use to protect the frame and lens from impact and pressure.

Will the anti-fog coating wear off, and can it be reapplied? Anti-fog coatings do wear with use over time, particularly with frequent cleaning. [CONFIRM WITH CLIENT: whether replacement lenses or recoating is the recommended fix, and whether this is covered under warranty]

Exceptionally Sturdy. Well Made. Don't Slip Down

Great glasses, comfortable wear. I ride on horseback and find them exceptionally sturdy when riding, they don't move on my face like others. Well priced.

Answers the problem soldiers have with moving quickly in and out of the sun

The SOS Super Cell answers the problem Soldiers have with moving quickly in and out of the sun. This goggle is built to US Mil Spec and in addition to an anti-fog coating features a removable photochromatic lens. This allows the wearer to strip away the darkened lens when they go into darkened areas. It also serves as a sacrificial lens to prevent scratching of the SOS Super Cell’s primary lens.

Additionally, there is a silicon nonslip head strap with integrated goggle sleeve.

Best tactical goggles on the market

There is a clear sign that military special forces were involved in the development of these goggles. After using others, I find these far superior. One of the best tactical goggles on the market. These goggles are a great addition to a ballistic helmet. I've fitted them on a number of different helmets with no issue. They hold perfectly on thanks to the anti-slip layer on the strap. It is necessary to emphasize the fact that these goggles have well-designed ventilation and thanks to that they do not fog. Not even by breathing and especially not even when the temperature changes rapidly, for example when passing from a colder environment to a warmer one like from outside to inside.
